Skills Assessment

  • We currently offer a web based, self administered, skills assessment tool for Basel II Credit Risk
  • (Assessments for Operational Risk, Market Risk, and Interest Rate Risk in the Banking Book are currently being developed)
  • This tool is often used to quantify skill levels for job applicants or to confirm knowledge for in-house Basel project teams
  • At the time when an assessment is ‘booked’, a candidate’s name must be entered, a Category or Categories must be selected, and a valid email address must be entered where the password for the assessment and the results are to be emailed following the assessment
  • There is no limit as to when the assessment must be self administered.
  • Once the email is received which contains the candidate’s name, the related password, and the assessment’s URL, the administrator or the candidate may go to the URL and enter the credentials.
  • A page will be displayed which provides instructions to the candidate and a ‘Start’ button
  • Each assessment consists of 100 questions.
  • The types of questions are True/False, Multiple Choice, and Short Answer.
  • The questions within our database are positioned within a two-dimensional matrix according to their Category and their Degree of Difficulty
  • Question Categories are as follows:
    • Basel II, Credit Risk, Standardised Approach
    • Basel II, Credit Risk, Foundation Internal Ratings Based Approach
    • Basel II, Credit Risk, Advanced Internal Ratings Based Approach
    • Basel II, Credit Risk, Securitisation Framework, Standardised Approach
    • Basel II, Credit Risk, Securitisation Framework, Internal Ratings Based Approach
    • Basel II, Credit Risk, Annex 4, Counterparty Credit Risk and Cross-Product Netting
  • Questions are ranked by Degree of Difficulty ranging from 1 to 10, where 1 is the least difficult and 10 is the most difficult
  • Each Degree of Difficulty also has an Expected Elapsed Time (EET) value ranging from 30 seconds to 90 seconds
  • Each assessment will begin at Level 1 for the Categories selected, and depending upon the candidate’s success, the degree of difficulty will remain the same or automatically increase until it plateaus.
  • Because of this means of ‘building’ upon the candidate’s previous responses, the ‘skipping’ of questions cannot be allowed
  • Questions within the current combination of Category and Degree of Difficulty will be selected from our database using pseudo-random selection.
  • There is no maximum time limit for the assessment, but scores will increase or decrease based on the sum of the EETs versus the actual elapsed time of the assessment.
  • At the conclusion of the assessment, the results will be displayed on screen for the candidate who may email the page at his or her convenience using the features of the browser.
  • The results are automatically emailed to the email address which was designated at the time the assessment was ‘booked’
  • Customers may purchase assessments in advance, either individually or in blocks
  • The cost on an assessment is USD100. For each additional assessment purchased within a block, each assessment’s price will be reduced by USD1 for the current cumulative number with a floor of USD25. (e.g. if you buy a block of 2, the price is $100 + $99; if you purchase a block of 3, the price is $100 + $99 + $98; if you purchase a block of 76 or more, the price of the 76 th assessment and any additional assessments is USD25)
  • Because organisations may not wish to ‘pool’ their collective purchased assessments, no grouping of purchased assessments is provided at a domain level, and ‘bookings’ may only be performed by the purchaser. (id est: if john@acmebank.com purchases 10 assessments and jane@acmebank.com purchases 5 assessments, neither John nor Jane will have access to all 15 assessments which are effectively owned by acmebank.com)
